Have you been wanting to try out online poker, but felt left out because you are a Macintosh user? Luckily, there are a few options for playing mac online poker, and enjoy the same experience that your friend's have been having playing poker online. Check out the following sites offering mac online poker.
If you are a Macintosh user, you are probably wondering what options you have for playing poker online. Until recently, the only option you had was to install Virtual PC, then download one of the poker clients from any popular online poker room. For the poker player who couldn't wait, this was an acceptible option, but what about the rest of us? Most of us don't want to make the extra investment in Virtual PC just to run a poker client. Recently, many of the online poker rooms have recognized the underserved market for players who are looking for Macintosh compatible poker rooms, and have come up with solutions to serve them.
Today, Pokerroom, Hollywood Poker and Pacific Poker all offer Mac Online Poker where you can play real money games of Texas Holdem, Omaha and 7 Card Stud. One of the benefits of these Macintosh compatible poker rooms is that they don't require any software to download and install because they run using java. Since they are using Java, you can play from your favorite browser -- such as Safari -- and can be running any of the following Macintosh operation systems:
OSX 10.4 Tiger
OSX 10.3 Panther
OSX 10.2 Jaguar
Mac Classic 9.2
Mac Classic 9.0
You can now play in all of the Tournaments and Ring games that your friends are playing online. Real money games start as low as 5/10 cents. If you're not ready to play for real money yet, both Pokerroom and Hollywood Poker offer play money options.
Currently, Bugsys Club is the only mac online poker site that has a Macintosh compatible poker client that you can download to your desktop. If you prefer a downloadable option, visit Bugsys Club, click on the "Fill out the Registration Form" link, complete the registration form in the pop-up window (just log in details), and then you will be given the option to download the Macintosh version of the software.
You will need the following system requirements to use their software:
OSX 10.1 or higher
Macintosh with a 400MHz or faster PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor (includes iMac, eMac, and iBook computers)
At least 128MB of physical RAM
The software includes an online poker school to improve your Poker Play through tutorials, articles, tests (on website) and Play-Money Tournaments, Single Table Satellites, Ring Games, Leagues & Heads-Up (on software). Rankings track your progress. The software also includes Free Play ring games so you can try out the software before depositing any money.
